★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a hidden gem in Rotorua. I found out about it from the I-Site whereby its labeled as Puarenga Stream. It's part of the biking trail.
Its a great place to walk (approximately 45 minutes) and it links to the trail towards the redwoods. You'll pass by the streams and several parts that feels like you are on the surface of the moon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Signage isn't very clear but this place is a hidden gem. Didn't see anyone on the day we went. You can get really close to be the geothermal areas, but not sure where you are meant to walk sometimes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is probably a good place to visit to force a conscious thought about how we have used and abused the land in times gone by. While it has been repurposed as a bike and walking trail, the area was used to be a landfill and still shows signs of that old function. Of course there is much new life being born here and small signs of geothermal activity (beyond the smell).
Some of the information signs have deteriorated beyond use, which is a shame.
