β β β β β We stayed one night in a very comfortable room which had character. Sharing the bathrooms was not an issue. Had dinner in the restaurant which is a 10 for fantastic food along with excellent service
We were made welcome in the bar to watch the AB game and it was family as we all gathered to watch We had already decided to visit again but stay longer as itβs very central to local activities and attractions.

β β β β β I normally try to only write reviews on places where I had a fantastic experience, but there's always an exception to the rule - The Top Pub is it...purely based on the fact I don't want anyone else to experience what we did.
The food and service here used to be great, but it seems to have gone down hill. We booked in advance (group of 13) but when we arrived, it seemed like we were a hassle from the get go.
There isn't much variety on the lunch menu (only three or four mains and two desserts), which surprised us, and when we asked if we could order starters we were told "yea just order the usual ones" when asked what they were, we were told "chips and garlic bread and stuff"...no more elaboration. When ordering a drink off the drinks menu, one person tried to order Export 33 and was told out of the six things on tap, only Tui was actually available. Then when we went to order dessert, we were told there were only a couple portions left of the sticky date, leaving ice cream as the only option (keeping in mind, nobody else was in the restaurant being served at this time).
Giving it a two star because the sticky date was delicious, and my Nan enjoyed her fish & chips (and it was her birthday so her opinion counts)....otherwise it would have been a one.
Wouldn't return or recommend.

β β β β β My son and I had a memorable experience here recently. We were looking for a nice place to stop and have lunch.....a late lunch to be fair. We were met with wonderful accommodating and friendly staff. The weather was less than ideal and was rather cold outside....but the warmth and ambience inside made the experience more memorable. The food....purely delicious....truly devine. If you want to have a remarkable dining experience.....go here, you will NOT regret it.

β β β β β Was in a group of 6. Great service. Had teenagers with us who wanted a burger. Asked if they could possibly chose from the bar menu but not allowed. We were ok with that. They chose the lamb and ribs and both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I had the lamb too which I highly recommend. Shared Octopus starter...excellent. Dessert very generous couldn't finish.

β β β β β Awesome Pub with many years history.
Team here is super friendly and accommodating.
Comy beds and rooms/toilets were all clean and nice.
Will have to try the next door restaurant when we next stay here.
Pub is also great for a good pint without having to go far from your accomodations.

β β β β β I've been looking forward to writing this review because we absolutely loved this place! It has everything in the same spot, a pub, accomodation and a restaurant. The bedroom is basic, clean and cosy and decently priced. The pub! Great service and nice locals. The Murphy's beer on tap is quite delicious! And the restaurant, well the food there blew us away! The sharing menu was a breath of fresh air, we couldn't fault anything we were served and there was 2 of us. The meat was cooked nicely and the flavours all worked well. The calamari, wow what a stunner, it was mouth watering and one of the best calamari dishes we've ever eaten! There were only 2 of us and ordered 5 plates to share and a side, could have easily only ordered 3 plates and a side. It was priced reasonably without the drinks we would have most probably spent 70-80 dollars. My husband ordered an Irish coffee and he said it's hands down the best one he's ever had and wanted to give the waiter a rather larger than normal tip in gratitude for the servers recommendation on the scotch and excellent coffee making skills. This is a gem of a place in Greytown and i look forward to visiting again!
