★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was great, Service was terrible was waiting an excessive time to be served more than once. Was asked to leave early while waiting for food even though on their website it clearly states a booking is for 2 hours. I understand that they were busy but with combined wait for service and wait for food shortened we wouldn't of been there as long as we were.

First of all yes we did enjoy our food thank you, if a review was just on the food you would have a solid 5/5 but a review is based on an overall experience
We left because you made us feel shamed for waiting for our food, I cancelled desert because we had been waiting over 20 minutes more if you count how long it took to wave down a server with many walking past us. Maybe you should make your booking more clear if the booking is not for 2 hours do not say it is.
I'm happy to change my rating and I regularly do on here hopefully next time we visit we will have a better experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lots of staff milling about on a Friday night but we were dining early. It looked like they were prepping for a big one. This is a great little restaurant. The image on their website is unfortunate insofar that it looks like a roadside stall. Its not. It's a restaurant and everyone knows what they're doing. Raw fish, nachos, burrito all flavorsome and different, not your run of the mill Mexican. The wait staff acted like a team too all looking out for us. This was a very pleasant experience

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Congratulations Gringas to your new restaurant the decor and colour scheme a feast for the eyes...such a warm welcoming happy vibe and can only imagine the atmosphere pumping with crowds over summer ? ? Mum had the fish tacos and I had my regular to die for prawn tacos ? ? ...your staff so happy and welcoming...you're definitely my all time favourite ❤

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was my first time in Mangawhai, hence my first time to eat here at Gringas. This was highly recommended by a local and was super glad we tried ‘em out. This is the best Mexican place I’ve eaten at in NZ, I daresay. We ordered the Quesadilla, TacoTaco + Pork tacos and they were all really good ?
Loved that you basically have everything you need on the table — utensils, tissue, tomatillo sauce, hot sauce, water… Service was also quick and friendly, staff was super welcoming, asking how we liked the food of if we needed anything else etc ?
Because of the amazing experience, I wanted to eat here again the following day but unfortunately we were headed back to Auckland before their opening hours ?
Highly recommended and will surely be back in case we find ourselves in Mangawhai again ??

Mexican themed menu and drinks. Inside and covered outdoor dining. Parking all around ( can be tricky in busy times). Bookings advised in peak periods. Well presented food, generous portions. Good ambience. Fair pricing. Pleasant, attentive team.
A worthwhile destination in popular Mangawhai central.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing food and clean modern restaurant. Attentive staff. Really impressed. We had the fish tacos, Mexican burrito, coconut margarita and frozen strawberry guava margarita. Seriously delish!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place with great prices! Plenty of outdoor seating or indoor! Really great drinks, we had the frozen cocktails. Great tasting and decent portion sizes. Should definately look to book if coming in on a busy night (we went on a Saturday and it was quite full!)
Only let down was one waitress we had who had no idea in terms of what she was serving and guessed what each plate was which was quite unprofessional and I have never seen before. Either than that it was great!
