It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience, it was educational. You do not see this place any where else in the world and we thoroughly recommend, it's something of a different world. Staring out into the nature scene whilst in the sulphur pools were so beautiful and the boiling waters in the ground on the walkways described the name Hells gates so well, so many lakes of boiling mud waters in the surface of the ground. I loved the sound of the boiling muddy water, it almost frightens you but it's safe. I could never forget this place, you must go.

Good detailed and guided tour or choose to explore on your own at your own pace, especially if you have young kids with you. The mud spa is so good for skin ailments and the mineral baths are relaxing. Go early and take in all sights and sulfur smells

We cannot recommend this unique geothermal experience enough! There’s the option of a self-guided tour where you can see erupting waters, active mud pools, and a hot waterfall. After a long day of driving, we decided to go for the mud bath and sulpha spa… fantastic experience. You can hire swimwear and towels for a small fee - to avoid the sulphur smell in our own clothes. Be sure to check out the website (it’s very informative) before making the trip, as there is a last entry cut off time. We found the staff very respectful towards us and they were very welcoming and generous. Whakawhetai koe for a truly wonderful experience ?

We really enjoyed our time at Hell's Gate. Great service, very professional. Our favourite part were the mud baths after the geothermal walk. I would suggest taking your phone out with your towel to get some photos in the mud baths, once you're covered in mud its not so easy ?

Love this place. Haven't been here in 20 years and it's still just as great as I remember it. My kids loved it too. I will definitely be doing the whole body mud bath next time. What a great place! And great staff! Thank-you for the great memories!

Hot dry walk. Very cool landscape and geothermal activity. Could do with more detailed information about what's going on under the ground and on the surface. Pools was the best part by far. Glad it was a quiet day. Would be crowded with many more there. Showers with soap provided after Clean and tidy housekeeping

Hell's Gate is truly an amazing experience and if you're in doubt, it is certainly worth the price. My partner and I did The Hell's Gate Experience and took advantage of the complimentary guided-tours on offer during this time and this was the best decision we could have made. Mark, our guide, really made the experience priceless. He was extremely knowledgable and charming. The walk around the property is beautiful and learning about the geothermal activity and the cultural significance of the area makes bathing in the mud and sulphur spas after the walk a really special experience.

There are several tier of the experience, some allow access to other type of pools but it's not clearly marked or explained so it's confusing as to which pool we're allowed to go to while which may be off limit. The small pool where I spent the majority of the time have a good view directly to the geothermal. Most of the time I've had the pool to myself because of the limited shade and not being too busy as border is still closed. Overall a good experience.
