★ ★ ★ ★ ★ the donkey farm located in Algiers bay new Zealand. such a neat place for family friends and visitors. drive up the hill and see beautiful views all the islands then take a bush walk from the tip off the hill to either the donkey farm or Algiers bay beach

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cute and fun reserve to visit. There is no charge for entry although you can make a donation to the sanctuary. We saw 7 donkeys while there, all very tame and ok around children.
There is a nice walking track too that brings you down by the water.
Bring some carrots with you to feed the donkeys, they love them!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely reserve tucked out of the way. Tracks are well maintained taking you to some fab views and picnic areas.
The donkeys are so sweet. I went on a Tuesday morning and found the volunteers in the middle of a grooming session, which I was allowed to join!
The volunteers are super friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, so be sure to stop and chat if you meet them.
