β β β β β Enjoyed the twin seats, very comfortable. Lively customer service from the attendants which made it enjoyable. I also applaud the Hoyts loyalty members card, I enjoyed my free popcorn refills. 10/10 experience. Batman movie also a 10/10 ?

β β β β β Very interesting place when it comes to movie theatres.
Compared to other ones situated in Auckland, this cinema is self serviced.
This means you can grab any drink you want and all the pop corn you want and you pay at the front where you would usually pay for tickets or buy food.
I would definitely recommend this place as the cinema looks new and gives a whole new perspective on movie theatres.

β β β β β Dreadful user experience. The layout is a confusing help yourself. Nothing is labelled, and there is no information about what you are meant to do. There is a high screen that scrolls through some options and prices but no one place where you see everything. The screen scrolls through the combos rarely, and only some of them,so you do not know what combos they have to offer. The popcorn sizes are not labelled, and there are 4 options. The drinks, three unlabelled options. So a regular popcorn is - well who knows really.
There were two female staff doing nothing except talk to each other; one guy on the only open counter doing ticket and the food purchases; and one guy checking tickets to enter the theatres. There was a massive queue for the ticket and food purchases, and yet the two female staff did nothing to assist, and just kept talking to one another. Finally the guy checking tickets was aware of the queue and passed the ticket checking over to the two female staff and opened up another purchase counter. He's worth keeping. The girls kept talking to each but one of them did check tickets on entry.
Whoever designed the layout, and so called user experience needs to find other employment. It is hopelessly confused, and confusing.
As for the two female staff members, hello. I think you need to focus on your customers, and not yourselves. Really bad form.
I am voting withme feet, and going elsewhere in the future even tho this is my closest option.

β β β β β Customer service was good, but definitely seemed a little understaffed when we visited a couple of weeks ago. Only one person serving, though it seemed to be a peak time. Theater was dirty like it hadn't been cleaned between screenings. I feel like staff did their best, but they didn't have enough hands on deck.

β β β β β Manager is absolutely lovely. Really helpful and kind. Staff are useless. They see you waiting to buy a ticket and all crowd away by the cinema doors instead of coming to the tills. Got the VIP upgrade so we could get cheap ice creams, only to be told afterward that there are none of those left and that they won't swap it for anything.
Chairs are old and uncomfortable. Botany is way better as all cinemas have leather recliners.
Would be a 1 star if manager wasn't so lovely.

β β β β β They have the best luxury seats with biggest views.Big Soft seats and good to cuddle in. Food is tasty too. It pays to talk to their staff and make a plan on how the meals are to be served and what times you would prefer them brought it. I often ask them to serve the food hot. Any complains that i had was always well dealt with their online team and they offered good points as compensation. Customer service at counter are very friendly and approachable but often busy serving customers. I believe one should not wait very long to be served in the Lux lounge. Get some more staff guys. You are the best Cinema in NZ.

β β β β β New self-service area is completely underwhelming. Worst customer experience I have ever had at a cinema.
Combo prices were only displayed on staff tills so you had to walk past the food and drink, wait in a queue just to ask what the combos were, memorise it quickly because there's a queue behind you, only to screw it up when you eventually serve yourself because there's nothing to advise what size receptacle actually corresponds to what.
A "small" cup would correspond to a "large" at any fast food restaurant. Except that it's the second smallest size available to choose from. And it costs like $6. Popcorn was similarly extortionate.
None of the food/drink is able to be ordered online or at the self-service tills. So just kinda pick and hope for the best.
Advice to improve: Make pricing clear. Label the options. Display your combos.
Frankly, the facility is good and the cinemas comfortable & spacious. But the food/drink experience really left a sour taste.

β β β β β The prices are absolutely HORRIFIC!!!!! and have been for many years. SORT IT OUT MANAGEMENT!!! Also label the size of your popcorn boxes it's so hard to tell what size they are then having to ruin the taste of it by seeing the ripoff price before u even tasted any popcorn. Watching a movie at the cinemas should be an enjoyable family experience but when u have kids who eat alot and see what kinda of prices everything is, I end up chewing my gum thru the whole movie so my kids can enjoy there popcorn and drink.
