We stayed at the James Cook over Easter. The team were friendly and helpful. We felt the price was reasonable. Not top end but affordable. Location is great being directly off the Motorway Terrace exit, good parking either in the James Cook (at a cost) or on the street near by and easy access directly onto Lambton Quay. Room was standard set up very clean with a new wet floor shower which was great. We had a few drinks at the Restaurant before heading out and they had a great team a good selection of wine and craft beer and a good view. Apparently a Panio bar but I'm unsure on days/times. The only reason for the 4 star was that our bed was uncomfortable. Everyone is different and it might have been just us. Very reasonable and would stay again.

Receptionist Roshab was super welcoming and made check in STRESS FREE for our family. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Such friendly and helpful staff, house keeping was prompt and ready. Thank you for making our Wellington stay a blast. Stay safe team you are all doing an amazing job during the Wellington convoy protest as well :)

This hotel is definitely not 4 star. Look elsewhere in wellington for nicer facilities and better prices The building and rooms are dated for the price. Also the parking here is terrible and management is no good. I was charged for an extra night of parking even though the car was removed in the early afternoon before the check in time for the next day. The front desk clerk took off the charge initially, and then his manager appeared and denied the change. She then walked away without apologizing. Truly bad customer support and poor management

We had an awesome stay at James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor in Wellington. It's accessible location to the CBD as well as large rooms and amenities makes it an ideal hotel to stay during our visits in Wellington! Will definitely be back in the future! Two things that needed improvements were the quality of the beds provided and staff at the breakfast buffet which kept asking if we wanted to remove our plates (which got pretty annoying by the end of our stay).

Lovely suite, very clean, with everything I needed, warm and comfortable. Beds very comfortable. Showers had water pressure that felt like a massage . Staff very professional and friendly. Helpful with anything at all. And the option to take the elevator to Lampton Quay! I highly recommend this Hotel and will return.

Staff are lovely. Parking easy. Lack of sound proofing is staggering. If I wanted to hear my neighbours open and shut their doors and their conversations I'd go introduce myself... We are here currently in the room, my baby has been woken multiple times by the noise next door and in the corridor and it's not excessive. She's sleeping through my three year old in the same room, but the intrusion externally is too much. I can hear conversations word for word. We are stuck here tonight but definitely won't be back and don't recommend if you have a young family. Sorry if you here our girl tonight!

Used to be a 5 star hotel; dropping fast to a 3. No in-room coffee machine; kettle and instant coffee a 1970’s offering! All staff unaware of kids eat free promo; from check in to check out I had to explain what the conditions were. Understaffed; phone not answered when ordering room service and no concierge. No umbrellas available for temp use. Food was good but expensive. Updated rooms were good though; bathroom and main sleeping area were well appointed.

The customer service at the James Cook Hotel was exceptional. All staff were friendly and went the extra mile. Greeted me with a smile all the time. Homely and clean facilities. I used the ECO label on my door and got a discount on a buffet meal. The buffet dinner on Sunday night was absolutely divine. The chef cooked my butter chicken right before my eyes. The Butter Chicken was tender. An elevator ride to Lampton Quay.....awesome stay I will stay again Thank you James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor staff - it is the people that transform a homely place into a palace That is what makes people want to return over and over again!!
