★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic tunnel, short walk from Carpark and great for children. Note it was closed for 2 weeks but had just reopened. Nice big Carpark to park in about 5 min from bridge

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is great tunnel to go though. You can bike or walk through it. We started from Waikino and walked downhill to Karangahake Hall. We left a car at both ends so we did not need to do the return walk. This tunnel is very cold. The floor is very good and flat. We had small children and they really enjoyed biking in it. There are lights in the tunnel so you don’t need a torch, but a torch can be useful to explore inside the tunnel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very long tunnel. Suitable for bikes, prams and walking. We had lights with us. Do not touch the sides if you can help it, they will leave your hands or fingers black (personal experience ?) such an awesome thing to do with the kiddos

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1 KM long tunnel with interesting orange lighting. you get to the tunnel by starting on the Karangahake Gorge walk over the bridge which is over the Road then through the tunnel to another bridge at the other end (which is under the main Road.
