★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been craving some hangi since being in the South Island, and Kiwi Kai did not disappoint. Beautiful pork hangi with all the fixings, and fry bread that was to die for. Had some raw fish to go with it, and was the best I’ve had for some time (tip: dunk the fry bread in the raw fish!). Highly highly recommend visiting if you’re in Nelson.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I ordered hangi, frybread and mussel buttie.. the hangi was a major disappointment ? I grew up on traditional hangi in the ground and steam hangi and I don't know how these ones are made but it is not nice at all, I don't not recommend these! I only give 2 stars for the giant fry bread and mussel buttie cause they were yummy as.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been looking for a cafe/coffee shop where I feel comfortable and where I can write - Kiwi Kai exceeded my expectations as it's a homely little Cafe tucked between Miller's Acre and the AA. Food was amazing - would highly recommend the Salmon burger if you're a salmon fan such as myself. The service was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed the small banter with the owner during my meal. 15/10, if you haven't been in, check it out. Coffee was nice as well ;)

I’ve had many hangi before but not as good as this one! I had to find the page on FB cause it’s that GOOD!
Great size portion, the pork had its fat and still juicy, the stuffing ?? out of this world!! I would definitely drive all the way up to Nelson for this, or if you’re ever in Chch I’d be first in line!
