Otorohanga is a clean, pretty little town. The cafe's have good fresh food, great coffee all reasonably priced. The public toilets are clean and the town folk Friendly

I made a special trip to the museum in the late afternoon after they printed an article in the local paper and wow what a trip back in time. The caretaker was so knowledgeable about the area. After spending about a half hour with her, she only showed me a couple rooms full of nostalgia and memorabilia, I was starting to feel like she was wasting her time on little ol me. She was just totally focused on giving me a great tour. You can also pickup and handle some items in there, making this place pretty unique. Another thing that stood out was the fact that, although they have soooo much stuff in there it is very well kept. I highly recommend a visit here. It's free or a donation which is great. I'm definitely going back, making a family trip of it next time. Probably a couple times as there is so much to see.

Such a quirky town with all the kiwi icons. I drove through Otorohanga on a rainy day in the winter with a car load of stuff and stopped at McDonalds for lunch, then across the road I saw the cute Kiwiana mural with the Buzzy Bee and other icons.
