★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommended. Caters to the age, and scare value of each group. What a neat place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been through Waitomo Adventure's Troll Cave three times since it opened; the first was with a group of adults, the second a group of adults and children aged 6 and 8 and most recently with a group of eight 9 and 10 year-olds. Each tour was led by the brilliant Pete who delivers the experience with as much gusto and commitment to adult audiences as to children. He has mastered the skill of drawing his audience (especially children) into the legend of the troll cave, fielding their many questions and comments, and instilling a sense of fear and excitement. The cave itself is manmade and full of surprisingly creative devises for supporting the legend of the troll and the mission to replace its transponder. It's a cross between a haunted house and an escape room that will totally engage and wow ages 5-85. Elvis the eel and his mates are the perfect end to a really fun experience. Our most recent tour was for a birthday party and beyond a doubt, the Troll Cave was the perfect entertainment for the occasion (especially on a very rainy day!). For anyone unable to go on Waitomo Adventure's Lost World Tour or looking to entertain the whole family, you cannot go wrong with Troll Cave.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm so glad there's a place like this in Waitomo, can't recommend it enough!
Our kids (15 and 8 y.o.) both loved it. We had lots of fun in Waitomo, but they said the Troll Cave was the best thing they did. There were so many details already on the way to the cave supporting the story of the troll. People we met there were amazing. And we loved the book we received as a present - a book about The Troll written by the owner himself! How cool is that? Definitely going there again on our next visit to Waitomo.
