About Waitomo Lookout Point
Due to flooding, we are only doing half tours at Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Ruakuri Cave will still be open, but every other activity is closed for the day (Wednesday 13th July).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Short walk, that can get muddy if it has been wet lately, that is only mildly challenging. The views of the local area, are pleasant, and does give you an idea of the local area and how the caves could have been formed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice short walk to fill in some time until your cave tour starts. It gives a good lay of the land and includes some lovely rock formations, farmland, a huge old tree, native bush. You can see the old Waitomo Cave Hotel from the top.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very less explored spot at the Iconic Waitomo Caves.
Very easily accessible from the main car park near the Waitomo iSite.
The walk is through the Waitomo caves domain and through the dense bush.
The walkway is well maintained and has some wooden steps.
Still it can become slippery in the rain and caution is recommended.
After a 5-10 mins walk through the bush, the lookout can be seen nearby and the views are very nice.
The platform on the lookout point offers 360 degrees views.
Very nice and well recommended for a quick half an hour hike to the top.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A quick tramp from the Waitomo Glow Worm carpark. I strongly suggest to make a quick detour to this spot. The scenery is breath taking. Better to wear gumboots during winter or spring.
