Great bushwak and fascinating cave system! Would recommend sturdy shoes and a head torch. Started the walk form Waitomo village, round trip took 2hrs with multiple photo breaks. Official bushwalk is well maintained but quite a few stairs and slippery spots. Waitomo walkway to trail head is relatively flat but a bit overgrown, long pants or high socks would be a good call.

Easy walk way. Youngest 5years old walk with no issue. Pretty amazing caves and tunnels. The whole walk takes about 50min with alot of stopping for photo. So I guess if simply walk, should take 20min..

One of the best free walks in Waitomo. You walk a fairly easy loop track with bridges, caves, glow-worms and rapids. Easy enough you can bring a 2 year-old for the walk and keep them occupied the entire time. Be aware however due to a landslip one leg of the journey is inaccessible for now.

Nice short (about 40 minutes return) walk in the bush along the creek and through several cave tunnels. Ideal place to see glowworms at night onthe canyon walls along the track

Fantastic walk. The little tunnels you walk through make tbis walk different to the rest. The bush is dense and beautiful to walk through. Definitely a great place to check out

This short bush walk is a hike that you should not miss when you are in the area. Raised wooden walkways and stairways, streams, little waterfalls, wooded well developed trails, natural caves that you walk through, natural rock tunnels, and lots of lush and beautiful scenery! We did the hike in about 40 minutes, since we were taking our time and taking photos. The hike is an easy one, and it is manageable for almost anyone. It’s a good trail for families, too. We will definitely do this hike again when we visit the area!
