Average food. Some of them kind of salty. Portion size is huge in another hand. The male boss have poor attitude, hot tempered and no manner. Recommend to try out if you love salty foods.

HK style dimsum in carts...great varieties to choose from. The siumai is the best.

The food was good and the service from the owner was great; but the 2 guys in the dining room that served us were terrible today at lunchtime (2/4/22). We asked for water and were never served, my partner raised her hand and one of them looked up then kept doing what he was doing. Also they served the food without any care or even a smile.

Recommended by a friend saying Yam Cha here is really good. However my dining experience with them is really poor. Trying to get one of the waitresses’ attention to order, she rolled her eyes and hinted a man to do that. Worse than that, they didn’t bother to clean the plates edge as seen in the photo to make the food presentable. Dishes were just mediocre, some of them just tasteless, had to ask for sauce. Waitresses all put on an emotionless face. Only one thing to commend, the fried wanton and spring rolls —5 star and black bean beef-3 star were really good! Overall, poor experience! AND —- the music they selected for dinning were awful guess that doesn’t bother those who don’t understand Chinese language ! Anyway not recommend. Fortunately I know Jolly Seafood in Wigram cooks good Yam Cha and Miss Peppercorn by Sumner Beach serves super good dishes! Try them! Btw, I’m not even sure if they would bother to see my review though. Lol

Good food and cooperative management. We had booked the restaurant for my friends wedding reception. Everything was great except the waitress assigned to us was very rude. As I was coordinating the event partially, her attitude towards us made my excitement take a dip. 3 stars only because of her attitude.

This was the first time trying this place with my partner and from our experience it wasn’t pleasant at all. We decided to order through Uber eats, had ordered two sides, Curry noodles and Satay chicken. Receiving the order there was no satay chicken as someone on the restaurant’s end didn’t put it on the system as it was not on the receipt. (provided photos below) The restaurant had closed by the time we received our order but we decided to phone in as it was only a couple minutes after the closing time. A lady had answered the phone and straight away seemed rude and disrespectful. I told her how they missed one of our meals and she bluntly replied to us to “go to Uber and get a refund”. I tried to be polite with her but she started being rude and could only give one conclusion to fix the problem and that was for a refund from Uber, when it was there fault for missing the order? I told her that we spent roughly $60 on your food, and it was a mistake on your end for missing the order. The least you could do is to make the satay chicken for us to pick up the next day as I clearly understood they were closed. When I went to pick up the satay chicken the next day the guy who was there was already walking to the kitchen so I expected the lady at the counter to serve me as I was waiting but instead she walked away. There was literally no one in the restaurant, but by the time someone came out they looked bored out of there mind. No enthusiasm or welcoming he just walked up to me. I don’t even want to begin about the food but here we go.. for our curry noodles there was so much seasoning that it was like licking powdered sand off the noodles. And my satay chicken was no where near what it was meant to be. The sourness put me off but worst of all when I had opened it, the meal was flooded with oil. Highly don’t recommend.

I believe this is the best Chinese restaurant in Christchurch. I came here all the time when I visited Christchurch. My family and I really enjoyed the red bean bun, phoenix feet, fried kuey diao and prawn dumpling during yum cha. The evening meal was fantastic too. We enjoy the freshness of the vegetable dishes, lobster with noodles and meat are well cook. Good job.
