★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon tour of the south island and of all of the places we stayed, Manakau lodge was our favourite! The rooms are big, clean and modern (in that they have Ipads and USB chargers) but retain a rustic feel. On the one side, you have a beautiful sea view and on the other a spectacular view of the mountains. Neil is a wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable host who cooks an incredible breakfast! The lodge is a little way out of the town but this wasn't a problem as lots of places will come and pick you up. We cannot recommended Manakau lodge enough and hope to visit again in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great views out of the back. Comfortable bed and very good IT. Good sized rooms with huge walk in shower and bath (Room 4). Fantastic breakfast. The owner Niel is a chef and overall great bloke.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed here last November. Just beautiful--scenery and suite were out of his world! The owner, Neil, was very helpful and friendly. It was as if we were his only guests. We would love to go back. We are glad to hear that the earthquake spared this gorgeous lodge.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Manakau Lodge was a perfect getaway. The views of the mountains are beautiful! The room was wonderful. And the breakfast was fresh and delicious!! Very personable host (and an amazing photographer). We highly recommend this place!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We rented out the entire lodge for a group of friends doing a mountain bike trip to Middle Hill Bike Park. It was great value for money. The rooms were spacious, the bathrooms were luxurious and the views are stunning. The owners were very accommodating in letting us have a late checkout when one of our group hurt themselves.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome location and very very nice accomodation. It's been a special stay and we recommend it 100%. Will suit so many people. So much on your doorstep to explore and take part in. Really enjoyed the many activities we did whilst staying here. Great hosts. Nothing too much trouble.
