★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of our favourite walks on the Kapiti Coast. Beautiful and calming.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice walk reasonably well formed but with some very wet/boggy spots about an hour in from the southern end. No river crossings required at the southern end but a small (3 metre) shallow crossing an hour in.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Your choice of 2 entries either from Otaki which is part gravel or Waikane tarsealed road ,turn off at Elizabeth st.
Waikanae entrance is the best, there are no toilets or rubbish bins.
Walk / run from carpark to carpark if you choose.Return 4 hours but I kept stopping along way .
Or 2 hr return from carpark to field with a stream for quick dip.
An easy walk following the old bush tramway through a canopy of native bush and birds. Delightful trickling streams run alongside the walk with pockets for a dip.
There is a swing bridge and other small bridges over streams, after rain parts can be a bit muddy.
From the clearance you walk through the crackling pine forest with the tall trees swaying in the breeze.
After this is the logging road to carpark on Otaki side which takes around 30 mins.downhill.Appears quicker on return.
An easy walk great on a hot day as you are in bush.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice easy walk, part native, part forestry. Can get muddy in the winter. Reikorangi side car park is much more popular as the Te Horo side starts off with gravel road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely walk to do as a family or with friends. We went in from the Waikanae end, and left cars at both Waikanae and Te Horo. The track was a bit muddy in places, and we had to ford streams in a couple of places due to the recent rain. Next time we will go in from Waikanae, walk to the reserve for a picnic and then return to Waikanae. The scenery through the bush is lovely but not that nice going through to Te Horo.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome walk. The best bush/ambience is through the southern half. The northern end consists of a lot of forestry and farm tracks. The middle portion/Te Horo clearing is fantastic for bushy panoramas and a Chrystal clear river. Lots of native bush and heaps of dragon fly’s around. Good track and parking spots. Highly recommend for a day out.
