★ ★ ★ ★ ★ New playground equipment. Glider, slide, spinner and swing. Beside the ocean beach. No toilets or water. A shop (dairy in NZ) 10 minutes walk away, public toilet there too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Disappointing. The flying fox is ok, but this park is devoid of any challenge or variety. It used to be better - limited, but better - but the council has removed all of the above-ground-level equipment and the swing set, and replaced it with a small slide and a tiny roundabout.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a 20 minute walk to the end of the spit along sand, with a rare dotterell colony along the way. You'll see the birds running along the beach as you pass.
My kids loved the river at the end; good place to swim.
