There is a basic toilet at the nearby beach access carpark; continue north a short distance along highway over railway overpass and take the first right, continue past houses, 200m to carpark.

On mornings you can find a nice coffee van there too, maybe not during weekends though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Otamarakau Rest Area... Main Reserve... Runs along Top of Main Pasific Coast Highway. Do take care when Entering & Exiting, as Road is a Highway & there is fast moving Traffic ?Wow! This is My most Stopped at, Slept at Reserve! It's Beautiful Country & Ocean Views are Breathtaking.. Hubby & I stop here Regularly. Great Place to Chill n Relax ? Large grassed Area, with off the road Parking, surrounded by lots of Trees. Resident Magpies are Friendly & Adorable! There's a Rubbish bin here also, so Please ensure you use it ? Toilet is just up the road at the Otamarakau Beach Access Rest Area (Which has afew Freedom Camper Parks aswell ? There is a Lovely Lady who sets up Her Coffee Cart here during Week & has the Most Amazing Coffee!!! Also has Pies, Sandwiches, Muffins, Savoury Scones etc & they are Affordable! We Sleep here Overnight when out Fishing ? Highly Recommend stopping in for a Rest, a Cuppa or even a Sleep along your Journey... Breath in the Nice Fresh Air & take in the Views of Surrounding Farmland, Hills & Ocean. Beaut Sunsets n Sunrises all along Entire Coast... There is a BP Gas/Food Station aprox 10 minutes North, just past Pukehina Beach turn off, & Matata is 15-20 minutes East, just past Pikowai ☺️ There's also afew Camping Grounds along the way. Numerous Places to Visit, for a Play on the Beach, Swimming, Fishing, Chillaxing, Resting, Family time & Great for Excercising Children & (Your 4 Legged Pals) of course! Enjoy x
