★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dean is a true ambassador for New Zealand beer and brewing. He has a great setup and offers a selection of international and local beers alongside his own well crafted brews. We tasted his Chocolate, Raspberry and Coconut Stout, his Pale Ale and his Double IPA "Phony The Elder". Its a great place to visit whilst in wellington and compared with many of the locations on the "Craft Beer Capital Trail Map" its bright and airy. You can fill up there - there are about 10 Taps, 3 of which were from Mean Doses and the others from Guest Breweries. When we were there he had a nice fresh hopped beer from Duncan's Brewing Company for example. If I was pressed for time and wanted to try beers from several breweries I would head straight there! Keep up the good work Dean.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dean is a top fella and his beer is fantastic. Nice 80s synthwave feel to the place and tasty brews from every tap. Highly recommend his Summer XPA, if there's any still knocking about this far into the season.
But everything here is tasty and you can't really go wrong with whatever dose you choose. Legend. Looking forward to see these brews on taps up and down Wellington and the rest of NZ soon as! Cheers Dean!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great beer. Drinking the mean juice right now - delicious. Also bought summer wheat and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dean opened the doors 5 min after closing and gave us a tour of his new plant. Looks the business! Wish I had one. If you are visiting Wellington a must stop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Some of the best brews in Wellington. Dean knows how to make a good tasting drop. So fresh and so mean fresh IPA is still one of the best beers I've had this year. Fillery is awesome to drop by and check out what's new. You can sample the whole range before buying so you know what you are getting. Looking forward to next year's fresh hop harvest already while enjoying what's on tap till then! Cheers!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've wrestled with reviewing Mean Doses and the reason is totally selfish! This small, incredibly intimate and bespoke brewery is TOTALLY AWESOME! I wanted to keep it to myself for as long as possible, the fear of popularity making Mean Doses less available to me, held me back. I'm sorry guys - Kerry and Dean, I can't thank you enough for helping to make my bday craft beer trail the best. If you're looking for people who know their stuff, really care about beer and people, have cool sounds on LP and sell their beer in BYO vessel or you can buy one of their funky takeaways, this is the place for you - cool modern/80's vibe with wood tones in the heart of Wellington city....Nga mihi, G

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a gem! New kid on the block in Wellington's busy craft beer scene, but stands out from the bunch already with pungent layered flavours in a nice variety of different beers. Despite working so hard, Dean is always smiling like Sam in Cheers - the local barkeep happy to help you sample a new dose of something sumptuous.
I think I've tried everything now - there's a new Mean Bounty based on the old Bounty bars (coconut-ty flavours) and there was a special batch of Mean Super Dupa(?) brewed for Wellington's Cubadupa carnival.
Just the perfect combination of good quality tasty beer + honest, friendly hardworking boss + damn sexy synthwave branding. In case you can't tell, I'm a fan - I even bought the T-shirt. Can't wait to see where Mean Doses goes from here and hope they are able to perhaps start bottling or canning so I can take/gift even more of the stuff.
