★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There's plenty of sushi restaurants in Whakatane central and you'd think the busiest were the best. While I can't speak for the others where people were lining up, I can say Mr Sushi was up with some of the better tasting Sushi I've tried. I really liked the way they dressed some of their sushi and the flavours were really good. The shop front might be a little dated, but sometimes, there's a gem within. We set next to the counter and without eavesdropping, we observed some of their exchanges with customers, it was all very good
