About Noodle Canteen
Noodles have a long and important history with Asia and as a staple food in many parts of the world for at least 2000 years. The earliest recorded example being an incredible 4,000 year old bowl of noodles unearthed in China.
Noodles come from a variety of origins, but wherever they have found a home, noodles have maintained their popularity over centuries due to their nature of being relatively cheap to produce, nutritious and filling, quick to prepare either hot or cold and their ability to be easily transported and stored for up to years at a time.
Noodles are more commonly made from wheat flour but can also be created from rice flour or mung bean starch. The dough for wheat flour based noodles is typically wheat flour, salt, water, with the addition of eggs or lye depending on the desired texture and taste of the noodles.
People from all walks of life love eating noodles due to it's nature as a nutritious and balanced meal. To the Chinese, noodles symbolize longevity and can be used in festivals and given to mothers or elderly people as gifts on their birthday.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been a customer of many of the Noodle Canteen takeaways (including Johnsonville, Porirua and Taupo), unfortunately the Courtenay Place franchise is incredibly poor in comparison:
- Service. Waited several minutes to be served. All the staff (three were on deck last night) were focused on cooking the meals. No acknowledgement or indication when we walked in that we had been noticed / that they were busy but would get to us. Two customers who were served after us got their meals before us (both customers ordered two dishes, the same as us). When the order was finally completed don't expect any pleasantries - just a couple of grunts were directed at us that our meal was ready.
- The Hokkein Mee dish. This is a favourite of mine, unfortunately the chief absolutely butchered the flavour. It is supposed to have a 'mild chilli flavour'. Well the dish was doused in chilli, each mouthful included several chilli seeds, my lips and tongue were numb and the sweat was pouring off me. The dish was inedible and extremely disappointing.
Overall we felt we were an inconvenience, we got the sense they really did not want to be there and were doing their best to turn us away with their appalling service and inedible meal. There are many food options at this end of Courtenay Place, we're not going to be frequenting this food outlet again - AVOID!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yummy!! Thankyou for serving great food so hard to find in wellington for affordable price! Especially with prices of everything going up! I was very pleased I ordered dumplings wontons spring roll and honey chicken with noodles everything was spot on! Apart from the spring roll it was like an apple pie very strange maybe dropped a whole packet of cinnamon by accident if not please change that recipe so I can order your spring rolls as I definitely will be back! I will be a regular from now on thankyou
