★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Only stayed for one night on a business trip but everything was great. Kitchen facilities, good sized fridge, nice heated pool, comfortable bed in a separate room which was quiet and dark. Everything clean and tidy. Right on the lake.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved it. Neat and tidy unit, fabulous restaurant and excellent presentation of the meals. Easy access to the shops and lovely walks alone side the waters edge makes for a, enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great location with lake views and lovely heated pool BUT rooms were pokey, dated and in need of a good revamp, so overall I was a bit disappointed for the rate I payed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wouldn't stay there again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rooms are nice and clean but are quite small. Nice and close to the lake and some rooms have a lake view. Pool is very nice and warm. Spa could be better but the pool makes up for it. Beds are on the squishy side which I find comfortable but if it's not your preference you probably wouldn't like. Would not recommend the pool for someone with mobility issues as they just have a ladder.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Oasis "resort" is an iconic relic from the 1970s. A well located motel wedged between the main road and the lakefront in Taupo's 2 mile Bay.
The facilities are in much need of a total revamp but had a delightful charm.
The beds were comfortable and the location only metres from the water made up for the forgotten state of the place.
The small complex is now run from the hotel next door so no onsite manager but the cleaning staff were friendly and efficient.
A courtyard in the centre is the units had a heated pool and a quirky spa pool. A run down tennis courtyard sits at the North end of the complex.
We visited in summer on a very warm weekend do spent our time in the lake instead.
Located on the very popular Lion's Walk, there was some great people watching to be had and the area is also a thermal zone with hot water leaching into the lake from under the sand. Just dig a hole to make your own heated soak pool.
Downsides - very small kitchen space and tiny fridge.
The unit design has high windows which has no curtains so you'll need an eye cover if you're a light sleeper.
The complex had no luggage trolleys and the parking is not outside the units so expect a sweaty 20 mins getting your bags into your room.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Spa pool wasn't working, the heat pump in our room didn't work(thank goodness a little goldair heat fan was left) which wasn't good as we had 3 kids and it reached 6 degrees overnight. Then we planned on a small swim in the heated(low to low/med heat) pool which supposedly opened at 8am but wasn't ready until 930am just before checkout time. The only positive is being situated right next to the lake(rocky area not suited to swimming).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved our stay here...very clean, apartment had everything we needed, staff were super helpful and friendly. Pool was warm, my son enjoyed many visits here during our 3 day stay. The 3km walk into town is enjoyable too, following the lakeside path. The Aircon unit could maybe have done with an upgrade....hard to cool the room down but we are talking mid January, overall we had an awesome visit and would definitely choose to stay here again.
