★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice venue. Food is great, menu could be upgraded from a loose piece of paper. Did not suite the aesthetics.
Quite expensive. $200+ for 2 adults and 3 kids.
Service needs improvement. The older waitress (i think owner), was preoccupied chatting with another table she obviously knew and forgot our second round of drinks

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had the pleasure of dining at the Ohangai restaurant while holidaying in Hawera. The venue is only a short 10 minute picturesque drive out of the town. I was lucky enough to catch the sun setting over the mountain as most tables have views which was stunning.
I had the goats cheese mousse to start then Pork Belly for main which was sublime and full of flavour. I couldn’t help myself and had the choc plate dessert to finish.
Meals are generous sizes and I don’t think you can go wrong with any dish.
Wait staff were extremely friendly and provided great service.
I highly recommend the Ohangai Restaurant for dinner or Sunday brunch.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ohanagi was a fantastic wedding venue. Finding Ohangai for our wedding was such a relief. On my first call to Helen, she explained how the venue was all-inclusive (bar the centrepieces, cake and photographer)... they pretty much take care of everything. One set price for the venue, staff, tables, glassware etc. Ohangai was also very flexible and accommodating, which we really appreciated. It's located just out of Hawera and is a beautiful setting in all weather conditions. The food was delicious, and the bar had great variety and barista coffee. Helen is also a wedding planner.. she asked questions about different events throughout the day that I had never considered. This went a long way in helping the day run smoothly. Helen's professionalism and in-depth knowledge of weddings was invaluable. I highly recommend Ohangai as a venue for the wedding and reception. I wouldn't want to organise a wedding any other way!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is set apart from other venues. It is a great peaceful location beautifully planed and stunningly designed. The catering was one of the best I've had and they have friendly staff. There is a licenced bar, plenty of space and good parking. Perfect place for any event you have planned.
Also the history of the venue is very fascinating too. It is actually the old Ohangai School.
