β β β β β Terrible experience at this shop... We were looking at some souvenirs and wanted to bring some snacks home. When we were looking, the shop attendant there kind of looked at us and ignored us. Retail is a tough job, I get it. Fine .. we can help ourselves. However when a Japanese lady approached, she immediately smiled and started talking to her and offering her samples to try . Why the big difference ? Just because I am a different race than her I get the shabby treatment ??? She then took out a box behind the counter and offered it to the Japanese lady to try, and continued talking to her in Japanese. I wanted to try that too, but I could tell she didn't want to let me try. I asked in japanese, and she reluctantly offered the box for me, and then kind of rolled her eyes with the Japanese lady. My Japanese is beginner level, but I think they werent saying nice things about me. I liked what I tasted, and wanted to ask her which box it was from. However the same shop attendant kept chatting with the Japanese woman, and totally ignored us. I wanted to try the cookie samples again before buying, but the shop attendant suddenly looked at me, snatched the sample jar away from my hand , and said can only test one time. What the heck. She could have told me, but she snatched it away from my hand, which I found so rude. She then continued talking to the Japanese lady and ignored us. If you want to be treated poorly, then come here.
I ended buying the same cookies in Auckland. I think it was same chain ... But treatment was totally different.
