★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Paihia Mountain Bikes was a great company to deal with. Jonny is an expert in both the trail and local area.
The bike quality is high and the level of service exceptional. As a solo traveller you get use to some trips not being available unless minimum numbers are met, but Paihia Mountain Bikes was happy to accommodate me and no extra.
I did the 2 day trip starting in the middle each day which gives you the perfect amount of unrushed time to do the trail. Plenty of time to take in the scenery of the north.
The trail itself is a nice mix of terrain with a few rough patches but nothing an average rider can’t handle. If you haven’t ridden in a while, consider an e-bike.
Scenery is a mix of farm land, coastal board-walks, old rail-way and a little small-town footpath. I did it in spring when the weather was not to hot and a great time of the year to see the spring growth.
