Planet Bike is a friendly company, based in the action packed centre of the North Island – Rotorua!
A cycle friendly town famous for it’s geothermal activity from boiling mud pools to huge geysers. Rotorua has some of the best mountain biking on the planet’the best single track ever’ is what Gary Fisher had to say. Surrounded by forest we have 40km of purpose built single track on our doorstep, beautiful lakes to cycle to and spectacular rides through thermal areas.
We recommend 3-7 days in Rotorua, the cultural heart of New Zealand – but if you’re a mountain biker you had better make it a couple of weeks! We can arrange all your accommodation, transport and sightseeing requirements.
We are on site at Whakarewarewa Forest where the best trails start. First left off Highway 5 to Taupo after Whakarewarewa thermal area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Out of towners looking to bike in Rotorua? This is the place to go. The staff was super helpful and friendly, their bikes were well equipped and well taken care of, and their prices are totally reasonable. The biking right outside their door is pretty nice too.
Also, they rent e-bikes if that's your thing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic service is really the standard here. Beg/Int mountain biker from Tauranga. Decided that I wanted to give an e-bike a try on the trails. Rented a full suspension E-MTB. I had so much fun I returned less than a week later to do it again! Both times they took the time to measure the sag in the suspension, install my pedals, and switch the brakes around (I'm American). All done @ NO additional charge... to ensure that I had the best ride possible. Great shop, great equipment, great location! What more can you ask for?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been thinking about trying e bikes for a while now and managed to hire 2 through Planet bike over a busy period. The staff were awesome, very accommodating and helpful. When we showed up they got us properly measured and set up on the bikes, gave us a run through, made sure we were comfortable and happy with our bikes and then we were off. The bikes were in very good condition and obviously well maintained. The hand back process was also very simple. Over all a very enjoyable experience and next time we are looking to hire bikes we will definitely look to planet bike again.
