After the relatively tough climb up The Elevation, you reach Toe Toe Junction. The Platinum Mine Loop Track comes off the Toe Toe Loop Track, there are 3 vertical mines and 2 horizontal mine shafts that you are free to explore. But take a torch and probably some gumboots if you are going to go inside the horizontal mines.
There are some cave wetas right at the back of the shaft & the mines are well worth exploring. So are the views from the stone hill above the picnic table.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great walk. Mostly under the cover of bush. Took approx 5 hours return trip. The track is well marked but gets quite overgrown with vegetation the further you get to the top. I suggest wearing gaters or long pants as the is alot of cutty grass along the track near the top platinum mines area.
