★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a beautiful place to go, beautiful gardens and veiws as far as the eye can see. They also do small weddings here and they have 2 cottages available to stay in. A beautiful couple that own this property you have to visit this place to experience its true beauty

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a beautiful day so me and my wife decided to go for a drive and see we if we could find any good bush trails to check out. As we drove we headed up toward the Ruahine forestry park to see what trails they had for us to enjoy, but I couldn't find where I was meant to park the car, so I headed down a road with a sign for songbird gardens to see if that's where the parking was or if someone could give us some help. I soon realized what songbird was and thought the cabins and view were beautiful. I said to my wife we should come back out here for a weekend away. My mind was changed soon after as a man came out to our car and stopped us. I explained to the man our situation and that we were looking for the forestry trails but the man was incredibly rude and quite frankly a jerk. He was very sarcastic and aggressive when answering my questions and made us feel like we were not wanted and that we better leave. As we headed off the man followed us up the drive way, taking our license plate number, and continuously watched us as we tried to find our way to the trails. I don't know if the man was just a worker or owner, but because of his cold and uninviting attitude we won't ever be returning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm from Australia and stayed at Songbirds 2 years ago and it was wonderful, gorgeous little cabin with flowers drying in the roof. Back in the Manawatu for the weekend I had some friends from Australia with me and took them out for a wander through the beautiful gardens. They loved it, the accommodation is so comfortable and the gardens are spectacular, the BEST B & B ever.
