Good place for a walk in the bush, saw lots of large compounds with lots of bush but not the bird that was in them ...? The Kiwi was hiding but i saw the area it lives in ....The bird walk in enclosure didn't seem to have birds either...thank god for the amazing king size eels. Nice staff, nice walk ...be nice to see some birds. There was a display with a kiwi in the foyer so i took a picture of that.

Best. Day. Ever! An absolute bucket list experience for me. The staff are incredibly friendly, and wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful but most of all - the wildlife!! Getting to see kiwi and kōkako up close has been something I never thought I would be fortunate enough to experience. Unbelievable! The centre they are running there is such an incredible asset to the rebuild of our wildlife. My partner and I couldn’t stop talking about it the whole way home and it was a day I will never, ever forget. Thank you so much for what you are doing out there, and at such a ridiculously low price for what you get to experience. I can’t believe it has taken me so long to come and visit! I will be telling anyone and everyone about your amazing conservation efforts. Brilliant. Oh and I almost forgot about the eels. Wow!! I’ve never seen anything like that before, I learnt so much from the woman who came to feed them - both my partner and I were in awe of what we got to see. Thank you!

Saw lots of the birds, lovely paths to merender round in, lots of shade even since we went around mid day. Intend on coming back to do the longer loop up the hill, and it sounds like it sometimes opens at night which sounds fun. Was a nice suprise that my mother in law got in free as she loves close by & brought us with her. Nice side trip.

A beautiful bird sanctuary in native bush - make sure you wear your walking shoes! Like any zoo or animal sanctuary, seeing the birds was luck of the draw but if you go to the feeding times you'll have a guaranteed look. The friendly kokako Kahurangi was a real highlight too.

Beautiful place to go for a long walk with the family. Hour and a half, maybe two to make it around the loop depending on your pace. Awesome views from the lookout up top. Highly recommended. Best French toast at this café too!

Such a lovely place to spend a relaxing day watching the wildlife, and chatting with the friendly, knowledgeable staff. I definitely recommend going to all of the talks, I always learn something new. The cafe is also a lovely place to refresh during your visit. *After many wonderful day visits, I finally did the Night Tour. The experience was fantastic, with amazing guides Ronnie and Charlotte sharing their vast knowledge along the way. Feeding the eels at night was a real highlight!

This is a great place for a walk and to experience NZ native birds. We had a picnic outside and were joined by two cheeky kaka who wanted to help themselves to our food. We did the summit walk and it was pretty easy. We did it in an hour but it says two-potentially we didn't stop enough!
