★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I cannot say enough good things about the hosts, Sandy and Michael. Warm, wonderful New Zealanders. They took me in as if I was family. I'd go back just to see them again (they're half way around the world from me)! Lots of great tips on places to go on my next trip. Learned lots about the South Island's culture, environment, etc. from them. The house is immaculate, quiet, comfortable and in a great location to explore Golden Bay and destinations further afield. Bonus is sweet little Towser! An absolute gem, start to finish and beyond. Doesn't get better than this!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a wonderful few days with the friendly hosts at Pukeko Retreat over Anniversary Weekend. Sandy and Michael were the best. Our room was lovely and all of the facilities were immaculate. The tariff was very affordable and they welcomed us warmly and gave access to all parts of the lovely peaceful property helping us with good advice on things to do, places to go and good dining in the Bay. As long term residents of the area their advice was invaluable in helping us get the best out of our limited time there. Thanks guys for making us feel welcome and relaxed and for all your help. We fully recommend a stay at Pukeko Retreat in Takaka. We will be back
