β β β β β This is an interesting monument, there is a cool play park and toilets so it is a good place to use as a photo opportunity and toilet stop. I don't think that you would be able to spend a lot of time here though.

β β β β β Always a good roadtrip stop off , good food and service , could still do with another till at food counter to speed up turnaround. ps. our dog loves their sausages for lunch ?

β β β β β The Mobil petrol station @ Rakaia is a great place to stop & they have a wonderful selection of food ? & then of course they have all sorts of other bits n pieces as well. I was driving for a company that let me stop there from time to time & I would have to say a lot of others frequent the place as well. There is a workshop to the side of the shop & no doubt they get busy as well. Overall the impression I got was one of cleanliness both outside @ the pumps & especially in the shop, keep up the good work team.

β β β β β Always good priced fuel, especially with a Smiles Card. The hot chips are the best! Pile on your own chicken salt ?
The people working there need to start being friendly though, sometimes it seems like the most impossible thing for them is to smile at a customer. So much for Mobil Smiles card...

β β β β β Always make it a point to stop here - they accept Bartercard for store purchases (excluding ciggies) which is a really big bonus. It can hardly be described as "good" food - but they do have a bay-marie / grill / pie warmer with things like fish, chips, chicken, sausages etc that are hot and ready to go. Much better than waiting while stuff is cooked if all you want is a quick snack while on the road.
They also had some lovely fudge on the counter when I was last there - which was great.
Staff have always been really friendly, smiley and chatty, which is a big bonus and makes stopping there a real pleasure.

Sadly there are zero vegetarian or vegan options in the hot and fresh food section other than hot chips without chicken seasoning by request.
