Not overly impressed. Overpriced breakfast (classic bacon and eggs) at $21.00. And the hot chocolate at 5.50 was in a pretty average size cup, small! A big breakfast in Hutt cafes for same price I paid today makes the classic look like a mini snack. Definitely not value for money. Very disappointed and not worth the stop in.

Went there twice before; first time was good - though pricey - having the big breakfast. Second time a big difference; staff are ok, but slow to respond even when not busy. The big breakfast was different with overcooked eggs. Hard (different) sausages and the ‘market fish’ was small, watery, hard and overcooked. Fries were nice. Then waited for 12 minutes for two slices of cake - only had to be put on plates and it was not busy at the time - carrot cake was old and dry (left it uneaten). No apology. Very disappointing. Drove from Wellington. Gardens are nice.

Beautiful gardens and lovely Cafe just about 30min drive from Wellington. If you arrive on a rainy day there will be house umbrellas available for your garden walk. Best time to visit would be a couple weeks before Labour Weekend (early October) to see both cherry blossoms and rhododendrons. There are friendly eels to feed and ducks and herons to greet. We had a Devonshire tea - scones, fresh whipped cream and selection of jams - after the walk. The list of available teas was impressive, but our Rose & Vanilla and Chocolate, ginger and turmeric ones came as Dilmah teabags. If you prefer, you can order coffee instead of tea for a small extra charge. Autumn colors are also breathtaking.

Well I am going to be honest. The beef toasties while delicious were cold inside as was the coffee. A very busy girl on the counter ordering and taking money also made the coffee so this didnt work. A long wait for our food ensued. The place was freezing cold even though there were heat pumps and an open fire available. It's a cute cafe with absolutely no ambience. How about some beautiful gentle music. You have it all with such a great location and cafe so make some changes with more staff.. Create a nice atmosphere.. And some heating and your business will boom.

First time at a high tea. great experience at this Cafe. The sweet and savory choices, very very nice. All was tasty and it looked beautiful. Out of my comfort zone trying a new tea recommended by the manager the African Autumn, glad I tried this. Loved it. Service was great. Good work staff, Will be back. Thanks very much

Beautiful spot, especially in Autumn with the fantastic gardens in full colour. Restaurant food was great as was the service.

Dropped in to get a takeaway drink for the road. I’d been here months ago to view the cherry blossoms. There was an Easter egg hunt for the kids and a wedding party had just left. This is a fantastic multi purpose destination for a quick getaway from Wellington. #wedding
