got 2 fried chickens which was delicious thanks to the sauce.
The fried chicken it self was slightly over cooked and that was alright.
the fries were alright.
The mains were steaks and sides of asparagus & corn.
The Scampi toast was bloody rip off. 2 puny pieces of bread. the toast was pressed in a sandwich grill press and was expecting more. Very weak entree.
Experience was alright. Service was good & staff were pleasant & attentive.
They have a good selection but given the price you pay
it left most of us hungry after the meal.
Once we got back to Auckland we had to go our local to get properly fed

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The portion sizes are tiny - ordered a pork chop main dish for $36, which had a miniscule amount of corn, not much meat but a lot of fat, and some really fatty sauce, came away still feeling really hungry.
Customer service also wasn't great, waitress said the mains would take 30 mins to arrive (we came after peak lunch time at 1:30pm, so I was surprised it would take that long for a pork chop) and it took 45 mins.
Definitely not worth going back to. Rusty Pelican or other restaurants in Matakana are a lot better.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to stop while visiting the sculpture park. The menu has some great creative dishes and the wine is pretty good. Service and kitchen slow though, it's always a bit of a red flag when you're chasing the waiting staff!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing food! The fired chicken was crisp outside and meltingly soft inside. The sirloin and broccoli were cooked to perfection, and the salmon was very fresh. I would love to give 5 stars for the food and wine, but the service only worth 3 stars. So I am giving 4 stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Waited 2 hours for lunch to arrive during a long weekend. Was rather merry at that point due to their Camille Rose that we kept ordering to fill the time. Food was great when it arrived and we would go back. I suspect they were pretty short staffed. Lovely spot, staff were nice but the wait was rather too long to be reasonable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Restaurant was very busy and waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed. Didnt really know the menu. Bread,Risotto and Oysters very nice. Not quite up to the standard I was expecting. I found the menu very difficult as choices seemed limited to me although quite a few items. Maybe because they had run out of Sirloin has colored my perception. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.if up that way i would definitely recommend stopping for a meal. Nice wine!!
