β β β β β Such beautiful old world charm. Grand old lady of a Hotel has been lovingly kept alive as a place to stay over in Lumsden with the freedom of self checkin by accessing a lock box with a key code. You Come and go as you please after arranged check in and check out time online. Super easy! You get a code to lock your bike up in storage, nice and safe if you are coming off the bike trails. A large kitchen fully equiped for you to use with delicious eggs from the owners chooks to help yourself too if your lucky ? a lovely touch! Accomodation only. You have the freedom to bring your own food to cook and fridges are there to store it all in kitchen. They even provide the seasonings, herbs, oil for cooking and tea, coffee and sugar in the kitchen too. withIf you do not want to bring your own food to cook there is a local pub and restaurant across the road as well as Route 6 cafe for breakfast. The rooms are fresh with tea, coffee provided.
You are able to book a Qualified Holistic Massage Therapist in advance also which is amazing after you come off the bike trails. Certainly run quite differently from the big cities. I loved the freedom of it. I decided to go into detail here as reading some of the reviews I found to be very
petty and misleading. Well done Mel and Family for keeping this Grand Old Lady alive in such a unique way that fits with the real country charm lifestyle. We love it! Highly recommend!

β β β β β The hosts made us feel super welcome. Then we checked the rooms ( we booked all of them for a cycling holiday) and they were spotless and the decor was quite tasteful. All rooms are on the second floor but are easy to access.
Melanie gave us all Home-grown chicken eggs in the kitchen to cook for breakfast tomorrow though weβre not sure if weβll take her up on that lovely thought. Lumsden seems like a great stopover near Queenstown with small-town old charm.
This establishment is quiet and serene so Iβll definitely bring my wife back here for a couple of nights.

β β β β β Positive: The local coffee and fresh free range eggs were a lovely touch, as were the old fashioned bits and pieces in the kitchen. Love that enamel tea pot!!. Negative: The walls are a little thin so I was kept awake by snoring on the only night that there were other guests..

β β β β β Great place to stay in a really quirky hotel. Perfect for a cycling group that wants to have access to a kitchen and comfortable rooms for all. Lovely service from Mel. And brilliant to be able to access the services of a Rachel for a really good massage. We'll be back!

β β β β β The walls are paper thin so I could hear everything from the next room, the TV didn't work despite following the instructions exactly, I nearly fell off the toilet because it's not affixed properly at the base, the water in the shower is way too hot unless you turn it down really low and it becomes a trickle, and there's no hot water in the kitchen downstairs. On the plus side, the room was nicely presented and includes cute little soaps and tea/coffee, there's a bath tub and the hotel itself is quaint. No staff on the premises though.

β β β β β We enjoyed our overnight stay here while riding the Round the Mountains Bike Trail. Our host, Melanie was most helpful. Contactless booking was very straightforward. There was excellent storage for our bikes and drop off for luggage. The room was very comfortable, lovely bathroom and extra touches such as locally roasted freshly ground coffee and hand crafted soaps much appreciated.
