β β β β β Had a wonderful day out with Chris and his horses! I was a bit nervous being a very inexperienced rider but he did an amazing job of putting me at my ease. We were a group with mixed experience levels and I felt he accommodated all of our skill levels beautifully. The views were spectacular along the trail as well.
Highly recommend!!

β β β β β Fantastic afternoon ride, beautiful scenery and horses. We were a mixed ability group and we all really enjoyed the ride. There were several opportunities for a trot or canter for those that wanted to. It was a varied trail with some ups and downs giving us the chance to take in the scenery. Chris was great at giving us pointers along the way and we all learnt something.

β β β β β A group of friends and I completed the three hour trek with Chris this weekend and I could not rate it higher! Between the 5 of us, we had very different abilities and confidence levels that Chris handled incredibly. He made everyone feel confident and safe which meant everyone had a great time. He allowed for those who were more experienced to be able to challenge themselves whilst making sure those who were content just doing the basics weren't pressured to do more than they were willing or comfortable doing. On top of that, the horses were very well behaved, the scenery was stunning and we could not have picked a better place to spend the day. I would highly recommend Rubicon Valley Horse Treks and can't wait to come back for another trek! Thank you Chris, you have created a very special place.

β β β β β Family of four (2 kids, 11 - girl and 15 - boy) had a fabulous ride this afternoon with Chris and horses. Gem loved eating grass and Red clearly had dreams from being a racehorse.
Chris gave us just the right amount of training as we had ridden once before. The horses were exceptionally well trained. Both kids (and me and my wife!) felt in control right from the start.
We all successfully went up and down hills and through a stream. If it got too difficult you could let the horse take control and Chris was always on hand watching the rider with the most potential challenges (not always the same person btw). Challenges were horses wanting to munch (not allowed), drink (allowed) or just distractions like cows or random urges to wait for other horses.
The country you ride through is beautiful as my photos clearly show (Jan 2022). It would be quite different but just as enjoyable at other times of year. In fact glaring sun would not be ideal. Our conditions look hot but there was a breeze at times (26 degrees) and light cloud (so no sun burn - we were wearing sunblock).
Take smaller water bottles not giant 1.5lt things like us. You can carry your phone in a satchel (provided) or if you wear comfy jeans you can still get your phone out of your pocket like I did.
We loved our outing and would recommend this to safety conscious families.

β β β β β Absolutely incredible views, friendly guide, and well trained horses. We took the 3 hour trek and had an absolute blast going up and down hills, through streams and woods. Chris is a wonderful teacher and makes you feel welcome and listened to. Would recommend this to anyone who has a taste for adventure!

β β β β β Highly recommend. Stunning views and something for everyone's ability level, we were a mixed group of beginner and more experienced riders and we all enjoyed the trek to our individual ability levels which was great. Fun hill climbs and steep descents and plenty opportunities to go a little faster if you wished, but also relax and just soak in the views of mountains and native bush.
Chris's horses were lovely and so talented. Will definitely be back for my 3rd time soon.
