β β β β β A guy called Matthew was extremely helpful today in regard with the camera selection. Not only he showed me the products but also explained well comparing with other products and also suggested me the right choice to make. He was passionate and easy to deal with. Hope to see him again.

β β β β β Sorry. I Really Really Love Sony. But/However the customer service and product knowledge and attitude, promises that they make, ie will call back in 5 minutes, at least, non existent and not helpful for overall experience, even if I'm wrong, that they ignore.
Young staff Member, quoted over the phone, $800+. Then found out upon store visit, rounded up to this figure, from $749 actual. The product quoted, was a demonstration model.
What happened I hear you ask?
1. Called shop asking about digital cameras for Heather.
2. Directed to a demonstration (window) camera on clearance. Last one left I was told.
3. Told its current normal price is some $800+.
4. This particular demonstration camera is $600+.
5. I ask her to hold it for three hours. She did.
6. I go from across town, Pickup Heather, to look at camera.
7. Meet with the sales person.
8. Looking at the camera, she says to us both, this sells retail $749. I ask her, you said it was $800 and something. She replies to us both, I from $749 rounded it up to $800. Heh? The camera was Not, as we believe we were enticed to come and grab a bargain, as they were clearing this 'used' item, however the price of the item actual (used) was $684. Equating to saving around <10% now, for used, not as originally thought or presented, earlier to me, over the phone, as being $1-200 range saving.
9. I told her I wasn't happy with her rounding up by $50, and she laughed it off.
I will actually call Sony NZ.
Very very poor indeed. Heather would've purchased had Sales staff not misled me/us.
Incidentally, I was asked for my phone number by Mike (assistant manager or Manager, as sales girl told me) (purportedly the manager) then saying he isn't the manager, that he'll get the manager to call me back in 5 minutes, blah blah blah... as actual store manager out. This call back never occurred. So was this a lie, as it was merely asked/gained, my phone number, so that he could in fact, screen out my Calls, whereby he, or the Manager (Him) had no real intention of calling me back to clarify and answer to my complaint, but for the said purpose of shielding and answering my incall himself. (Heather Weegenaar, called them back in this case, on my phone) Mike (whatever role he holds) answered shop phone, and by name, saying when "I" purportedly called them back (2h:20minutes later) as no hearing from them as to their asserted promises, answering their phone was Mike, saying "Hello David". So bad tactics or... and customer service.
He 'Mike' now completely shut down on me, even though earlier he had stated his shop assistant acted inappropriately or words to that affect, and shouldn't have dealt with that way, said Initially sorry. However, now came back at me and said the camera is worth (with...) over $1,000...
Cannot give a zero star rating, review will not allow, so 1 star.
*Shame on you Sony Style Shop.
If it comes to making a 'complaint' with store, then they run and hide, instead of dealing with It, regardless of result, in a Professional manner. I have read review other here, not Heather's, of similar pattern if complaining that store not great in addressing issues, so just be always nice.... and write glowing review, and then they'll actually give "a hand thumbs up like" to it Our opinion.
I'm a chess player, and I learn most from my losses than that of my wins. Sadly, I don't think store have this mentality, as they, in this case (my opinion) have discarded my issues raised, which frankly annoys me greater than anything else. Had Manager, Mike or whomever, called me back in a reasonable timeframe (would call, if I was buying a big item, HeHe, I believe) regardless of result, if any, even a purchase, or Not, this review (& Heather's) would be of the alternate.
Sony Style Shop.
Learn how to deal with the difficulties and complaints in a complete different way please. If you say you're going to call back in 5 minutes or so, then please do it within reason. Sadly something's happened to change the earlier great experiences of your store at Riccarton Christchurch.

β β β β β I have had my time wasted and been misled. The customer service and product knowledge of one of the staff is unacceptable. She gave false information re price. The staff member spoke down to my ex husband on the phone that I was privy to hearing same and she didn't like it that a complaint was going to be made against her. The manager had earlier said he wasn't happy with his staff member but later reneged on this. I would have bought the camera had the staff member been honest. I get better customer service at Jb Hi-Fi.

β β β β β Just went in to the store. Both of the customer services reps were on the phone and on the computer. I tried to use one of the $1300 machines and both representatives ignored me. I had to call them to come help me use it. I then had to ask multiple questions about the machine. In the end I left, it just seemed too difficult for the customer services rep. Could've been an easy sale.

β β β β β At first, the customer service was way less than I expected. Sony's culture/systems definitely need fixing to be more customer focussed. Getting a refund was a massive rigmarole, and basically didn't happen. (1 star)
However, after several weeks/months and some social media honesty, the Manager did call me up and came to a solution. I appreciate that and I hope it's a sign of thawing policies toward refunds. Customers just want to be happy with their purchase. Credit where credit is due (3 stars).
Update: Well, after getting it sorted on a phone call, I went in to get my refund and alas, the one staff member in the empty shop couldn't issue my refund and the manager thought his lengthy phone call was more important than me. I waited, in an empty shop for maybe 20 minute or so as he walked past me knowing who I was yet continued his phone call.
Would treat my own customers like this? No, I'd actually be embarrassed. Sony, good products, not good service. Buy Sony from somewhere else and then you can take advantage of not having to go through the Sony Corporate maze. My time is important to me.

HJ helped me learn more about a lens I was considering and took the time to help get me started with it, set me up with a rental so I could test drive it and really made me feel confident and safe in my investment in this new lens!
