K	Karren Llanes - Opena on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went to dine in at their restaurant. W e ordered food and had to wait 45 mins and yet it end up not getting served. Too busy is not a good excuse. I ordered first among the others and seems they have forgotten about our order so i had to follow up. I followed up couple of times. Terrible experience. Won’t ever go back.
P	Peter Stewart on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place for a holiday. Old style hotel, with showers and toilets, separate from the bedrooms. Spotless accommodation, with good beds. Communal tv lounge with tea and coffee making facilities. Good place for a couple of days stay.

Meals in both the pub and restaurant were delicious and generous in size. Friendly staff who were very accommodating to any needs/requests. Highly recommend the South Sea Hotel.

Used by locals and tourist it has the best selection of foods on the menu, needless to say most of the menu is fish. I had the seafood chowder which comes in half or full portion, half was enough for me. Blue cod and chips were probably alittle small in portions but tasty enough. Good place to wait for the ferry to come in and have a beer. Don't forget the IPA. Staff are friendly and helpful and certainly very busy.

Great that the hotel gives you the option to store a bag when away tramping on the Rakiura Track. Utilised this with no issues whatsoever, very handy. A++++

Originally, we were going to do the Great Walk, but we cancelled due to the beg bugs issue, so we actually made a booking to stay with South Sea very late. We got separated into 3 different rooms - the 2 bigger rooms were fine, but the single room was very small and basic. All of the rooms were very clean though. The food was above average. There wasn't a great selection, but the chef and the staff made a great effort to accommodate our dietary needs. And that is what made South Sea special! All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our trip to Stewart Island was very memorable. Thanks South Sea for hosting us.
