★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Summit Station (historical) is a great halfway stop on your bike ride/walk along the Rimutaka Rail Trail. Park benches, toilets and some rusty old Fell Engine relics. Lots of interesting information and photos about the history of the railway link between Wairarapa and Upper Hutt. Great spot for a picnic. Definitely worth a visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice gentle ride up to the summit. Firm wide track, easy for 2 to 3 wide in most places. Toilets at the top. Bring a torch or bike light ! The tunnels are dark.
Easier ride down with the slight down hill gradient. Great for all the family. Take a wind proof/ rain jacket, weather can change quickly - but can get quite warm too. A Must do for Upper Hutt.
