take around 1 hour to do the whole trip, pretty windy on the top

Awesome views, reward for the puffer zig zag walk to the top! 700metres up means you’ll see views across south Wairarapa, the northern Remutaka Range and south Tararua Range. Take another layer for the often windy peak. If you driving from Upper Hutt it may be better to drive to the top Remutaka Hill Road summit Carpark and then return downhill for a bit to access the track car park. There’s not much room to turn in coming from the south otherwise.

A short, yet very rewarding hike close to the summit of Remutaka Pass. The view from the top is comparable to Mount Climie; most of the Wairarapa plains.

This is a short 1.8 km trek , however it can be steep in places and zigzags and is exposed. The car park is just s short distance from summit but you will need to watch for traffic if coming from Hutt side. Once at the top you get panoramic views of Lake Ferry , Tararuas and south Wairarapa.

Great climb up to the Trig from the car park near the summit of the Remutuka Hill Road on SH2. The trip to the top and back took me 45 minutes. The views were absolutely stunning, especially out to the east over southern Waiarapa and Lake Waiarapa. The walk itself is steady, with a good track and well maintained steps. If you are going by on a sunny day and have some time to spare I would definitely recommend taking the time to check it out.

Easy walk uphill with stunning view all through up. After a short walk inside a bush, you will enter a sub-alpine zone. Just a reminder: no toilet here and be prepared for a windy walk.

Short hike up the trig marker. Took us 20 minutes ascend so basically 1 hour return from the carpark. We went on a fine windless day but I can imagine the wind it gets as it is very exposed. Rewarding views await and is very worth it. Careful descending as the small rocks can be a bit slippery and the track can be steep sometimes. Highly recommended.
