★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The walk was about 1hour 45mins back and forth. Well worth it though. ❤ Anyone walking to the lookout needs to be concious that you are going to go through paddocks where animals are. Be sure to close gates on specific areas. Lots of cow dung so watch out! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful sunset and nice walkway aside the beach then bushes then on a hill with sheep ? and cows ? this is worth the 45min one way to the Takatu Point Lookout from the carpark! Highly recommended for sunset lovers! You can even see Tui and hear native birds in late afternoon when it’s very calm! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Part of the Tawharanui Regional Park the Takatu Point forms part of the network of walking tracks. It's about a 45-60 minute walking network from the Anchor Bay carpark along well marked tracks. From the point you'll get far-ranging views to Little Barrier Island, Kawau Island and the Hen and Chickens.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The main beach is beautiful but this walk and lookout is definitely the highlight of Tawharanui for me. 270° of ocean spanning from the Hen and Chicken Islands, to the not so Little Barrier, right around to Kawau. This will certainly become a regular visit for me
