★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you go into Taupo, and don't want to visit the shops, this is a lovely spot to stop at. Stretch, walk, picnic...and playground Pay as you go toilets a bit further up. Easy stroll to them. If you are going to do that, then you may as well take your $$$, shops are just across the road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely lake shame so many have to share tiny track to exercise on! Runners, walkers and cyclists all trying to exercise with the benefit of the beautiful lake. Lots of activities on the lake, seaplane rides, also they take you out on a boat and you can go up in a huge parachute! Looks great fun.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful view of the lake here, it has some tables, and plenty of parking spots. We came here to have lunch with our gas cooker, and our caravan park just in front of the table, so lovely!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The lakeside is qutie a nice place for views of the surrounding area including the snow capped mountains (in winter). The main town area is closeby so it is worth walking down here to take a few pics and enjoy the scenic views.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a serene place to be. I bet you'll forget everything when you sit at Lake Taupo shore with loose dropping your legs and relaxing your arms at back..looking up in the sky!
Lake Taupo is memerizes you from the moment you see it's beauty. The more you see, the more you fall in love with it. First, it is so HUGE..Second Purity of water is unbelievable - you can see the stones and sand through your eyes. And third and most is the colour - in the morning it is white later as sunrises and goes on the top it turns to dark blue..its real colour..!!
