About Taupo Sailing Adventures
In our world sustainability is getting more and more important.
At Taupo Sailing Adventures we believe everyone is able to make a difference for a better future and for us sustainability is a big part of who we are and try to be.
We want to take you on a journey to show you, what we are doing to become more sustainable.
Sailing is one of the most environmental friendly ways to travel – we use the power of wind and sail as much as possible. Taupo Sailing Adventures has only sailing boats, no big motor boat, no back up, not even for bad weather. If the weather gets too bad for going out with our boats – we will cancel the trip and give you a full refund.
But sometimes even in New Zealand there are days without wind…or it is from the wrong direction to reach our destination – in that case we have to use the motor. Did you know that in the rare case of motoring the whole trip we use as little as about 5l Diesel for a 2.5 hour trip?

The ride and the hospitality on board were both enjoyable and we’d definitely be returning for another sailing trip. Dave did an excellent job maneuvering choppy waters and bonded very well with the kids on board.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked the lunch cruise and had iffy weather but turned out really nicely. Skipper made an effort to get the boat in the right spot with the wind to use the sails. Gave us plenty of time at the carvings, then had a great 20min swim in a little bay. Was very easy going, unrushed and nicely done with bean bags, drinks and pizza and a friendly crew. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I planned a surprise trip to Taupo for my partner and I am so glad that I made this a part of it. Our skipper David (and owner I believe) was so lovely and welcoming, we were greeted with pizza, drinks and laugh. Even though it was pouring with rain for half of it, there was wet weather gear, blankets and plenty of shelter. We still managed to see the captivating rock carvings and what the sky let us see of the sunset. Well worth the money and time! I believe it is family run and Covid has been hard hitting for businesses like this who rely on tourists.
Support these lovely people and their awesome business and have a really beautiful evening.

We were booked in on another activity in Taupo which was cancelled at fairly short notice and the crew at Taupo Sailing Adventures were able to accommodate us at short notice. We were so happy that we missed out on the other activity to be able to enjoy the sailing trip with pizza, drinks a relaxed and fun crew, an amazing long swing and knowledge of the area and a laugh on the way back. It exceeded our expectation by far and highly recommend anyone to do this trip. Excellent value for money, professional and responsive. Thank you very much for a great afternoon.

Dave and Jess (the owners) were so welcoming, informative and friendly telling us all the facts about the Lake and the Maori Carvings. They did very well getting us up close to the carvings three times to really appreciate all the intricate details. Lovely spot for swimming and the pizza & drink were a real treat! Getting to steer on the way back was an added bonus! Thanks guys and keep up the great work. Would highly recommend this company to everyone ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was amazing! Big thank you to David, our skipper and host for his patience and hospitality. We motored to the carving place, viewed it and had a nice swim in the lake. While sailing back, we viewed a stunning sunset, and everyone felt warm because of the blankets provided. Pizza and drinks was a nice bonus.
