This used to be a great family doctor. Since mid 2016 this practice has gone steadily downhill. Our family has just changed our doctors due to our concerns (as listed below) and would recommend that no one goes to this practice. Over the past year we have observed: There is no way to make appointments online. The only way to make an appointment is to call in the morning. The practice refuses to keep a waitlist even when you ask to put your name down and so the only way to get an appointment someone else has cancelled is to repeatedly call back, starting at 8:30am. The last three times I called to make an appointment they were not able to offer anything sooner than 6 days later. The two wonderful female doctors who used to work there have both left. Their replacement is Dr Deborah Waxman. She is condescending, rude and I would not recommend anyone see her. I have put in a complaint to the health and disability commissioner about her practice and would advise people to stay away from her. (On a side note, a quick google shows she was fired from a previous job for having patient information on her computer from a different job. I would not go and see her if you have any concerns about your privacy). The other doctors and nurses who work there are good, and we really liked Dr Dillman but it is too hard to get an appointment to see him and we have too many other concerns to keep coming here. The receptionist recently threatened to not let me see the doctor because I was two minutes late to an appointment. (Two minutes after she finished her conversation with another nurse). Never mind that I had travelled in the rain with a toddler and was literally two minutes late by the clock. On multiple occasions I have politely and understandingly waited to see the doctors, between 5-30 minutes. Surely the same understanding could be given to patients. The management is hugely unprofessional. Emails sent to the complaints email bounce back. An official complaint was ignored and then finally answered with β€œwe already dealt with that” and not even signed with the manager's name. My further attempts at communication with the manager and requesting more information about how my complaint was dealt with were ignored. I have put in a health and disability complaint about this process.

I have been with them more than 7 years. Doctors are fine. One doctor needed some guidances from me last time I had hand mouth foot disease. However, he left. In general, doctors are good for the general illness. The reception is rude! Always in rush, stop your talking, no listening. And the booking system has changed. You can't make an appointment in advance, as you should only call them at 8:30 in the morning to make your appointment for the day. If you are unlucky and call them 10 mins late, they are fully booked. I will definitely change to another family doctor when I find a better one.

Of course I am totally biased. I have been a patient for 5 years now and have seen Roskill Union move through extremely difficult times. As for getting appointments, I am organised, I know when I need an appointment so I ring and book a few days ahead. I get to see my GP of choice and have total care by the nursing staff looking out for me. The practice is not staffed for walk in patients which I think they say on their blurb. However I'm sure if you were to walk in they would do their best to manage you. Recently my husband arrived for an appointment to find that another patient have confused her time. My husband agreed to give his appointment to her and he came back later in the day for her time. It's called paying it forward. Staff have changed, as do a lot of practices, and I can assure you that the experienced team of Roskill Union always work for the benefit of all patients. They sometimes have to face patients that are in a lot of pain and very unwell so they understand their needs. This practice is a very low cost practice. There are not many practices in Auckland that are cheaper than we are. I know that patients get excellent value for the charges. If you feel short changed, ask to speak directly to the new Practice Manager, speak face to face. She is most approachable, experienced, unlike the previous manager, listens, and does her very best for those needing assistance.

The experience I received within the last 2 years had been so poor that I addressed my concerns about it.... I realise now with new management I can see there have been a lot of changes, new receptionists and doctors and I must say the change has been great. When calling I am greeted by the lovely receptionist, on arrival the receptionists are very bubbly and are friendly, doctors actually taking their time to help. Just wanted to say thank you for listening, thank you for making change and thank you for taking care of your patients the way we expect to be treated, you guys are amazing! Keep it up!

Last week my mum, who had stroke in 2014, visited her doctor Melanie Abernethy and the doctor considered to refer mum to a exercises class. This morning I received a message from doctor saying that she had decided against this idea as she can find no suitable class for mum and she may well fall over. I really appreciate Dr Melanie's effort of researching for a suitable class and making decision base on the patient's body condition and needs. She is a doctor full of positive energy and Sympathy. I respect her as a really good doctor. My mum has been at this clinic for nearly 10 years. From my point of view there is a warm, calm, relaxed and peace of mind atmosphere in the clinic. The doctors and receptions change but the services remain. They listen, care and help. Best wishes to all the staff and the customers. 26/10/2018

The receptionists are helpful, warm and inviting, the service provided is efficient and the doctors knowledgeable and offer many types of support. I can always get an appointment within 48 hours and staff will always follow up on any messages or queries. The two ladies on the front desk complete the experience and are always smiling and friendly. Good job guys! Keep it up :)

Doctors isn't the same as when I first signed up. Had an awesome Samoan doctor, she left then got all these ungrateful doctors with no manners. The reception staff are all new and have no idea how to communicate with people. They don't even greet you or acknowledge you let alone say anything to you. Just look at you and expect us to read there minds the idiots. Moved doctors now as a result of Dr Melanie being so rude to my daughter. If I was at that appointment I would have slapped your face. You have no respect for others and don't know how to communicate with Pacific people. Shame on you. This doctors surgery is a complete disgrace and they should be closed down.

The clinic deserves a second chance. I have been going to Roskill Union for about as long as I can remember. However, my previous experiences up until last year, with the clinic were unfortunately marred by the unfriendly, judgmental and confronting behaviour of the reception staff. Since last year, I'm not exactly sure what's been done, but all the reception staff have been changed and now, each time I call up to make an appointment I am met with the friendliest of voices which make visits to the clinic an absolute treat. Not only do I feel better after leaving the clinic , I always enjoy the conversation I have with the receptionists, the thorough and approachable nature of the doctors and above all else, the wonderfully warm, inviting and uplifting atmosphere created by the receptionists. Well done!
