The Listening Post has two modern, specialised stores in Wellington and Christchurch, with high quality demonstration rooms and a layout designed to make your decisions simpler.
We stock comprehensive ranges of stereo and home theatre products from Yamaha, Paradigm, Dynaudio, Arcam and McIntosh, which form the core of our brands. We compliment these with cables and interconnects from Wireworld, QED and Nordost.

We polish the whole thing off with the knowledge and wisdom of experienced staff to help you get the right advice both before and after your purchase. Our installation team is responsible for some of the highest quality installations in the country.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Real mean guy works there with a bad attitude. Some nice young guy was helping me and then this older dude takes over (clearly on commission) and doesn't let the other guy get a word in. On top of that, the old guy was rude and pushy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst experience I have had. Not to be trusted. It seemed like "ha ha we ripped you off sucker".
I purchased an item that did not have the functions I assumed it would. Straight away I contacted them. The response was "tough luck you should have asked." Maybe so but I didn't as assumed that the functions would not be an issue. Any reasonable retailer would have been more understanding especially since the device was already 2nd hand and there were no issues with use or damage.
I will never have anything to do with them and nor should you as their arrogant high handed attitude absolutely stunk and still stinks.

I walked out with a headphone amp, so it was a good experience overall. Shop is tidy, well laid out and air-conditioned, which is good for the summer!

I dealt with Manu throughout with multiple visits to the store, and he was very patient, and informative with excellent ideas for how to go about it. They blended some of my existing gear with new items they supplied, did the pre-wire and installation/fit off and came in on budget. Highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited the Listening Post one time a couple of months ago, and had a very enjoyable time chatting with Michael and listening to some wonderful Martin Logan loudspeakers. I failed to faint when I heard the price, they were more than worth it.
Last week, I celebrated a modest windfall by purchasing a Blue sound Vault 2i. Michael clearly explained the technical aspects. I have since loaded half my cd collection, and the beautiful sound and ease of use are amazing. I am very happy with my purchase.

Communication was prompt and clear. Delivery was well organized and very quick (2 days).
Would definitely buy from here again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The website shows items as "Guaranteed in stock" and "Available now in store" but this is not the case. When I called to discuss purchasing the item I was told there is no stock and the sales person then tried to up-sell to a more expensive product. Very disappointing
Foolishly went back and ordered some cables from these guys, half of the items arrived a few days later with the remainder not in stock (surprise surprise). No sign of my refund yet and not even a curtesy email to say the item was not being shipped. Appalling service. I will not be going back a third time
