★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful dine in meal at The Thai Mangonui. We have eaten a lot of Thai food in NZ and Thailand and this was superb. Dishes were crammed full of tasty ingredients, selection was imaginative and servings were generous.Staff were gracious and friendly, nice wine selection great service despite being very busy. Best food ! Have to go back to try all the other yummy dishes we couldn’t fit in. Thank you Emily and Tony

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Honestly... the best Thai we have had in NZ. We wish there was something this good in Auckland, it would be a weekly visit.
All the seafood dishes were fresh, soft and full of flavour. The duck was phenomenal. The beef was soft and grill of flavour. The Tom Yum was one of the best we have had, we just wish we got the ‘bloody hot’.
If you like hot food, go for ‘bloody hot’.
Come open up a restaurant in Auckland please! And show them how Thai food should be.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pad kra pao is my benchmark Thai dish. This was as good as any I've had. I asked for Thai hot and was warned that the chillies they have can be a little variable and really hot so I had some extras on the side. They definitely packed a punch, so I recommend this approach even if you like it as hot as I do.
Yummy earthy tones and crunchy fresh vegetables. I chose squid, which was meltingly tender. This was our third visit over something like seven years and we weren't disappointed. Not long finished dinner and I'm already salivating about our next time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our first visit as it's quite a long drive for us but well worth the effort. Absolutely delicious food and lovely service. Be sure to book a table. We didn't think it would be necessary on a Thursday but fortunately we did - for early dinner at 5.30. By 6pm it was getting very full. People arriving all the time to collect takeaway orders too. So I think this speaks volumes about how good the food is. Just wish they opened for lunch as we'd be more regular visitors, however, we'll definitely return and, from our experience, can thoroughly recommend this restaurant

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good food but sadly our service was far from acceptable, I believe because we ordered the banquet it was delayed some how. The manager was good about resolving the situation so thanks for that.
The team there were working really hard but simply could not keep up with keeping water and drinks flowing on our table let alone the food. I would go back though and hope to get better service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ordered takeaway from The Thai and I can highly recommend ir to anyone who likes Thai food. Staff are super friendly and the food is fantastic. We ordered a variety of dishes and all of them were delicious. The flavours and aroma just made it easy to dish up more and more. For a small coastal town it sure has a top Thai restaurant. Definitely spoil yourself with a visit to dine in or take out as you will not be disappointed.
