We were spending the weekend in Martinborough and decided to visit a few of the cafes and restaurants while we were there. By far the Village Cafe was our favorite and best suited for our family as they offer a kids menu and have great sized portions at reasonable prices in comparison to some of the other places we visited. The croque monsieur and eggs benedict were amazing and the kids LOVED the fish bites, mini-breakfast (which was HUGE) and hot dogs. They also loved the iced-chocolates covered in marshmallows. We would definitely recommend!

Had to ask for our food to be reheated as the rosti was frozen inside still, waited over 15min for coffee. Got our breakfast before the coffee came out. Had to ask for cutlery and get our own water. Wouldn't recommend or go back.

Thought we would give the new owners another opportunity but this is the last time we will come here. Food took 40 minutes and came before the drinks, the meals came 10 minutes apart and were cold. I had to find cutlery from another table and the service was appalling with blaming lack of staff. There appeared to be plenty of staff but no leadership and total chaos! Such a shame because this place used to hum. Was encouraged last visit when we were welcomed by previous OMG owner with friendly service, shame he wasnt here today as our experience would have been different.

Well after giving the new owners a 3rd chance to sort out there teething problems We gave them another visit to support them Terribly disappointed & will not return while this is under current owners. Sorry but they need professional support . I was with 2 friends and we’re told our order would take 30 minutes . Ok we can cope with that !! However expected our drinks to come out ?? But no & told they were 30 minutes as well . Not acceptable. After 30 minutes my 2 friends had there meals placed on edge of table and 10 minutes apart. My Meal was another 10 minutes so I was eating alone. Not acceptable . Told they were short staffed . Not my problem. Disappointed & could say more . But that’s enough . Please improve your service before you have no returning customers

We were really disappointed with the service we received. We arrived at 2:15 were given menus and took a seat outside, we asked if it was table service or if we needed to go to the bar to order, we were told that someone would come to take our order. At 2:32 when this hadn't happened I went up to place our orders only to be told the kitchen closed at 2:30! When explaining to staff that we had been waiting for our order to be taken hence why we had come in to order staff were argumentative and rude saying it was our fault as they closed they kitchen early due to having no chicken. We spoke to 3 staff members regarding our taking order and getting menus and never were we told the kitchen would shut in 15minutes. Even though we liked the look of the place I would definitely not recommend.

Popped in for lunch and had one of the best lamb salads I have ever eaten, the lamb was tender and juicy and the salad full of flavour without being drowned in dressing. My friend had the croque monsieur and the chips were cooked to perfection. Food arrived in record time.

We've had some very good times in this cafe in the past BUT when we were looking for lunch on Easter Sunday we were disappointed. Hardly anything in the cabinet and a very usual, boring, menu of all the usual suspects. The cafe is large but it wasn't as full as it has been. Maybe the menu is diminished because the owners didn't get that the town was very full for the weekend or maybe they don't understand that with the wineries and a few other cafes there is choice for customers. They need to come up with better ideas.

Even in busy times (like today at Martin Borough Fair) they deliver good food /coffee and service. Thanks to the kind waiter who was willing to take our photo. Great place to sit for a nice rest. Thanks we really enjoyed ourselves!
