★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don't be fooled into thinking this is a good old fashioned Kiwi pub. From the moment we arrived the staff were rude and uninviting, unless your a local they don't want you in there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A warm tavern with delicious dishes and good proportions. It is also a free camp and you can park for free for the night.
The first time I came here, I had ordered the $ 29 dish consisting of meat, fish, shrimp skewer and fries. It was the best meal I ate in New Zealand !! I was delighted.
I come back then 6, 7 months later hoping to eat this famous dish again. But I could not have it the evening I came, I was very disappointed, I had made the road to eat this dish.
I ordered the Tihoi Burger instead which was very good.
But the $ 29 dish is just exceptional and worth the trip !!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A good stop for a clean toilet and toasted sandwich on the western side of Lake Taupo.
We always wanted to stop at this tavern but this is our first time. We'll happily stop again as the food and drink were fine. The Tihoi burger is filling.
The hosts can easily improve the ambience and the reviews: just a friendly smile and a cordial welcome. I suppose this would be a difficult place to run a tavern and perhaps that's why the staff were too taciturn.
