★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great for a basic campsite, highly recommend if basic is what you are after. Bring everything you need with you, cooking, means for personal hygiene, rubbish bags to pack your rubbish, tent/shelter etc. We initially pulled into the 1st of 3 areas, which was a bit unkempt and underwhelming. We explored the place a bit and found the other 2 areas, all with it's own toilet very nice. In these 2 other areas, the grass was kept short, toilets were clean and they had easy access to the stream for a dip or to collect water. The forest was surprisingly quiet in the evening. We were there in the middle of winter and brought all the firewood we needed for 2 nights. The short walk(45mins approx) of the Rimu Track was lined with old ancient looking massive trees with a couple of bridges over looking the stream. There's a steep incline with stairs leading to a lookout. 5 out of 5 for our experience. Can see this as a nice spot for summer as the stream's water looked pristine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty scruffy looking and the road needs a grader. Not as I remember it as a kid, but the blackberry seems to love it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Poorly maintained campsite. Unfortunately DOC had forgotten to cut the very long grass before summer and the blackberries were completely out of control. Very little shade on a hot summers day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome spot. Quiet, no noise other than wind in the trees, bird song and insects. Lovely little stream and beautiful bush walk among magnificent Rimu trees.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful basic DoC campsite, has clean drop toilets and great tent sites. Water collection down at the stream is a lot of fun - little shrimp and fish to watch, and the water is clean and clear. Easy to filter and tastes good. The Rimu walk from the campsite is good for some exercise - be prepared for stairs! Lovely opportunities for birds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I did an overnight trip to Kakaho Camp. What a lovely campsite.
The Rimo loop walk was a llovely Bush walk. I will be going back here.
Loads of folks popping into the camp to do the walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Another stunning DoC campsite on the edge of Pureora Forest. Take the Rimu Walk track up to an extinct volcano and be amongst the tops of the tallest trees. Amazing walk, some stairs involved...
