About Jimmy Coops Lakehouse

As a young lad he always had a real penchant for burgers. His first word was “double-cheese-no-gherkins” (I kid you not), and when other kids moved on to Weet-Bix and Coco-Pops for breakfast, Jimmy was different. He was all about the burgers and meat.

That devotion is why he turned his back on the pipedream of All Black stardom and set off on a great journey of self-discovery in search of the perfect burger.

On this epic journey, also known as an O.E, two momentous things occurred. One, he grew a moustache. And two, he landed at a diner in New Orleans where he worked under the tutelage of renowned Grill Chef Señor Jorge Foreman.

Soon the mustachioed Jimmy earned a reputation as a legendary grill master, discerning craft beer drinker and all-round good bugger. To this day, Jimmy believes the source of his culinary prowess resides in the moustache and so hasn’t shaved his upper lip since 1991.

Fast forward a few decades and Jimmy Coops is back in his homeland. Moustache and burger skills intact. And legend has it, he possesses the ability to make the perfect burger. But is Taupo ready for it? Are you?

Staff were great and the setting is nice. Fast service and generous servings but no flavour at all. The burgers tasted like nothing. Probably a good place for drinks and fries

Amazing burgers, good value for money. They were able to make their veggie burger vegan for me and it was delicious and full of flavour!! Sides were a wee bit on the pricy side for their size, but got the best onion rings I ever had.

Great venue, nice selection of drinks, friendly staff and burgers to die for! I had the Dusty Monday and could barely finish it! So worth it.

Lovely place to have a drink, good milkshakes for kids, beers and verity of drinks for the adults, and the the food looks good. We did not eat here. But the view is awesome of the lake.

Lovely views of the sunset from the outdoor area. We didn't eat here but the beers and boozy shake were amazing. Only giving it 4 stars because it's overly expensive for what you get imo

Burgers are big and saucy amazing flavor great beer selection and a very friendly staff. Coops Classic with avocado was phenomenal The jalapeno burger sauce was not to spicy had great flavor with just enough heat to be enjoyable. Mrs parma was good but the chicken was a little over done. Can't wait to come back again Millionaire shortcake was fun very sweet.

Great ambiance and very accommodating staff. Order process is a bit techy, you need your phones to order their menu. I don’t know if they do normal orders. Need to update the images in their website though so that we can see the food. Burgers were delicious, first time having smash burgers. A bit crispy and dry. Overall it was good. Their tap beers we’re great as well.
