About Tokirima School
Tokirima School is a small rural, sole charge, decile 9, state funded full-primary school situated in Tokirima, 32 kilometres south west of Taumarunui off the Forgotten Highway. It currently has 14 Year 1 to 8 students and is the focal point of the community.
The school was founded in 1907. A number of families have a long association with the school, and community groups use school facilities.
The school is well resourced and appointed. In addition to the classroom, there is a small library and administration block.
We have a focus on continuously improving teaching and learning. Professional development of all staff is therefore regarded as very important. Teachers and other staff all live locally and there is a common enthusiasm for upholding high standards in all areas of school life.
The community is a caring and proactive group who see the school as a real asset that is central to their farming community.
Assets are well managed and the school is in a healthy financial state.
